This is a collection of letters written by a Marine to his girlfriend, then wife, during World War II.
I have no personal connection to the writer or recipient. She gave the letters to my aunt, who gave them to me. I've been struggling with just what to do with them, because they're problematic. On the one hand, they're an interesting historical record, but on the other, they contain a lot of racist passages that I'm deeply uncomfortable with publishing. I considered transcribing them but leaving out the offensive sections, but that seemed like a cop out, so I've decided to leave them intact.
